John Burton of the Institute of Economic Affairs, England, offers an update of the effect of Thatcherism on labor unions in Britain. Even with Mrs. Thatcher's spectacular election victory recently, the change regarding the role of organized labor has not been radical, according to Burton. Rather, the Thatcher approach has been a stepby-step approach, while the strain on the relationship between unions and the Labour Party is increasing.
